Sundowner Award:
- Recipient earns less than 50% of their annual net income from agriculture.
- Ideal for individuals engaged in agriculture activities “after hours” and weekends.
Star Young Farmer/Agribusiness Award:
- Recipient earns more than 50% of their annual net income from an agricultural-related career.
Outstanding Member Award:
- Honors members who exemplify and promote the ideals of the Texas Young Farmers Association and actively contribute to the agriculture industry.
Young Farmer Newcomer Award:
- Recognizes first or second-year members who have shown significant participation at both the state level and within their local chapter.
Family of the Year Award:
- Honors a family unit (not necessarily traditional husband/wife—could be siblings, parent/child) that promotes the ideals of the association, supports the agriculture industry, and exemplifies community involvement and traditional family values.
Outstanding Chapter Award:
- Based on chapter achievements from September 1 to August 31 of the previous membership year.
- Key Areas of Emphasis (in order of importance):
- Educational: Activities that provide information or training benefiting members or students (e.g., sponsoring students to attend conferences, hosting educational meetings, running children’s barnyards).
- Community Service: Chapter-sponsored (or co-sponsored) projects that serve the community and where the chapter is clearly recognized as a sponsor.
- Leadership: Activities aimed at developing the leadership abilities of members, including participation in conferences, conventions, and contests, where the individual represents the Young Farmer chapter.
- Recreational: Events organized for member entertainment and fellowship.
